Activities

The Art Club is open to any creative, art -loving, student that is in 7th or 8th grade. 

Meetings are in the art room on Thursdays beginning in September. 
We will meet from 2:15 – 3:15 pm. 

Students will work on sets for the school musical and also participate in other community art projects.  This club is a great way to hang out with other creative students at Ridge!

The Lakota Ridge Boys Club is an opportunity to work collectively as men to better ourselves both in and out of school.

Members will learn soft skills that will propel them into their young adulthood. These skills will be crafted with a huge emphasis on open discussion. Students will be able to self-advocate through deep/ engaging conversation. The intention is to provide a space for our young gentlemen to come together and build camaraderie.  

In the wise words of Henry Ford, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.".

Ridge Junior's Drama Club typically produces several shows each year, from lively musicals to more serious, thought-provoking dramas. Check back to see what productions the Club will offer this year.

The Drama Club gives students an opportunity to participate in supervised creative dramatic activities including a final production. 
Students will be exposed to different aspects of theater including impromptu skits, vocal music, dance, costume design, set design, props and tech crew.
The club will work on creative thinking skills, encourage teamwork, and provide students with enriched learning experiences in the area of performing arts.

Audition and shows are held in the fall and spring.

Jazz Band is for students who want additional chances to perform. In Jazz Band, students will experience styles of music that are different from the Concert Band class.  Students will also learn how to improvise. 

Jazz Band meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays (2:30 – 3:30). 8th Grade students may join Jazz Band in the fall. 7th Grade students may join Jazz Band beginning in January.  

Tryouts will be held for students who want to be in the rhythm section (playing piano, guitar, bass, or drum set). In order to be in Jazz Band, students must be enrolled in the Concert Band class.

The Junior Honor Society (JHS) is established to recognize outstanding middle level students.  More than just an honor roll, JHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.

Membership not only recognizes students  for their accomplishments, but also challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. Students at Ridge will apply for induction during the fall of their eighth-grade year.

Student Council is a community service organization which helps promote school spirit, philanthropic services, and good citizenship while also initiating positive leadership development to all involved students.

Some of the activities led by Student Council include: sponsoring school dances and pep rallies, raising money for local and national charities, participating in community service events, and promoting school spirit through attending school wide events and managing concession stands.

Consider becoming involved in a club which truly makes a difference in your school and community.

Super Scribers is a creative writing club devoted to anything and everything related to writing. 

Super Scribers begin the year brainstorming different writing goals and then work together to make as many of those goals as possible. Some examples from previous years include starting to write chapter books, publishing a Ridge Newspaper, running a school-wide writing competition and of course playing games along the way.

Steam Team: Science helps to create a passion for learning science through tournaments at the building, district, county, state, and national levels with an emphasis on teamwork and a commitment to excellence. 

There is an emphasis on problem solving and hands-on learning. This extra-curricular activity prepares students for competition in science and technology related events.

The Yearbook Club is for students who are proficient with computers  and want to be involved with the production of the yearbook.

Students in the club attend after school meetings once or twice a month. Club members will choose the cover of the yearbook, create the yearbook theme, design the layouts and pages, and take pictures. To be involved in yearbook, students need to complete an application and submit a sample yearbook page to showcase their creativity.
