Adjustments to Summer School Offerings Announced
Lakota Local School announces changes to its summer school offerings beginning in 2025. The changes apply to credit recovery, high school credit offerings and the advanced math bridge program. Summer school will be offered May 27-June 27.
Credit Recovery
As with general student fees this school year, credit recovery fees will once again be implemented. The cost for credit recovery will be reinstated at $200, the same amount that was charged pre-COVID. The courses will be online through Apex but students can report to East Freshman for in-person support. There is no charge for senior connections.
Initial High School Credit
High school summer courses, with the exception of health and physical education, will run through the College Credit Plus (CCP) program. The courses are run independently through a university of the student’s choosing. There is no cost for CCP courses if the registration deadline is met. Students must complete the CCP letter of intent by April 1, 2025. Students and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend the CCP information session at the Lakota East and West registration showcases in January. Registration for both summer school and the 2025-2026 school year CCP courses will follow the same process.
Health and physical education will be asynchronous online courses created by Lakota teachers. In-person support will be available at East Freshman. Each course will cost $200.
Students who may need more teacher support are encouraged to consider scheduling these classes, like economics and government, during the regular school year.
Advanced Math Bridge
Students in grades six or seven not currently taking advanced math but are interested in either advanced math 7 or algebra 1 at the junior school level should register for the advanced math bridge program. Students will receive asynchronous study materials and practice tests in lieu of a face-to-face course. The in-person final assessment is free of charge and will be administered by Lakota staff on two different dates for families to choose. Students must pass the assessment to move into advanced math classes. There is no fee for the materials or test.
Summer school registration is scheduled to open in February.
